Mumbai: Govinda has issued a public notice warning media outlets, social media accounts and content creators against publishing or sharing false, defamatory or unverified material about him and his family.

The notice also targets AI-generated and manipulated content.

The actor, whose personal life has been the subject of intense scrutiny for several months, warned about possible legal action, including claims of up to Rs 100 crore against those responsible.

The notice is about photos, videos, audio recordings, morphed images, deepfakes and other content created or altered using AI (artificial intelligence).

Govinda said he has not authorised anyone to misuse his name, image, voice or personal and family- material through digital platforms. Those who publish or circulate such content could face civil and criminal action under laws covering defamation, privacy violations, identity misuse and cybercrime, the notice stated, citing provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and the Information Technology Act, 2000.

In case of violation, Govinda may approach courts for orders involving bank accounts, property transactions, passports and other assets. Govinda also warned he could seek damages of up to Rs 100 crore against any guilty party.

Govinda’s strong stance comes amid renewed attention on his marriage to Sunita Ahuja.

Sunita said during a conversation with Rakhi Sawant that she had withdrawn her divorce petition after learning that Govinda was planning to marry actress Komal Rani Swarnakar.

Govinda’s manager Shashi Sinha denied Sunita’s claim, saying there was no second marriage in the offing. He also maintained that Sunita remained Govinda’s wife.
