Phil Parkinson is preparing to welcome back a well-known figure to the Racecourse Ground, with Wrexham having reached an agreement with Manchester City for Kabore’s permanent transfer, according to talkSPORT.

The 25-year-old Burkina Faso international was on loan with the Welsh side last season, where he quickly became an important part of the defence. During that spell, Kabore featured 32 times in all competitions and displayed his attacking quality from wide areas by providing eight assists, including three in his opening two league games.

The agreement represents a major financial commitment from the Red Dragons as they continue their rise through the English football system under the ownership of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Kabore has been a Manchester City player for more than six years, having first joined the Premier League club from Belgian side KV Mechelen in July 2020.

Yet despite his lengthy connection with the Etihad Stadium, he never made a competitive appearance for the Cityzens. Instead, he went out on seven separate loan spells to build experience across Europe before settling in North Wales.

Once the final formalities of Kabore’s move are completed, he will become the fourth arrival in what has already been a big-spending summer for the League One graduates. The recruitment push began with the signing of Danny Imray from Crystal Palace, and he has already made his mark by scoring an equaliser against Watford. The club then followed that up by signing Preston North End captain Ben Whiteman, a move that created considerable tension at Deepdale.

As part of their defensive strengthening, Wrexham also brought in highly rated goalkeeper Anthony Patterson from Sunderland for a fee believed to be around £8m. Kabore’s £2m arrival further highlights the spending power Wrexham are willing to show as they aim to assemble a squad capable of challenging near the top of the Championship table.
