New Delhi: The incidents of attacks on Indians are continuously increasing in America. A 27-year-old Indian citizen was shot dead by an unknown assailant in New York City. This incident happened on Friday night in East New York area. According to the report of news agency PTI, the victim has been identified as Gurdeep Singh, a Sikh migrant from Kapurthala district of Punjab.

Shot after argument over pizza delivery, accused absconding

According to the information, there was an argument regarding pizza delivery near Stanley Avenue at around 10 pm. The argument escalated so much that an unknown shooter opened fire on Gurdeep Singh. He died on the spot due to bullet injury.

The suspect fled from the spot after the incident. A surveillance video showed a fight between two people followed by a flash of light believed to be a gunshot.

In the video, one person was seen falling on the ground and the other driving away in the car. Police have registered the case and started investigation but no one has been arrested yet.

Anger in Punjabi community, NAPA expressed grief

The North American Punjabi Association has expressed deep sorrow and anger over the murder of Gurdeep Singh. “Every time a young Punjabi or Sikh person is murdered, another family is ruined,” NAPA Executive Director Satnam Singh Chahal said in a post on X. We cannot allow repeated violence to become something that communities simply learn to live with.

Indian origin store owner murdered in front of daughter in Tennessee too

Another similar heart-wrenching incident happened in Jackson, Tennessee. A 56-year-old Indian-origin store owner was shot dead during an armed robbery on Thursday evening, August 20.

According to the Jackson Police Department, the incident happened at Ridgecrest Cellars, located at 2880 Ridgecrest Road, around 9 p.m. Eyewitnesses said an unknown suspect entered the store, displayed a weapon, and demanded cash from employees.

According to local media, the victim had worked at the store just a few days before the shooting. It is being told that when the gunman opened fire, his 19 year old daughter was standing near him and was watching all this with fear.

According to police the suspect was a black male wearing a gray hoodie, jeans and black work style boots and his face was covered with a paintball style mask. After the firing he fled in a white sedan car. Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Jackson Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
