The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited applications for five positions on its Junior Cricket Committee, with the new members set to play a key role in identifying and developing India's next generation of cricketers.

The committee will oversee age-group selections up to the Under-22 level, pick squads for domestic and international assignments, and contribute to the development of India's junior talent pool.

The move comes as the BCCI also looks for a new title sponsor for the Indian team's upcoming home season, with IDFC's tenure set to end in August 2026.

BCCI Seeks Five New Junior Cricket Committee Members

According to the BCCI's criteria, the new committee members will be responsible for selecting the best possible age-group teams up to Under-22 in a fair and transparent manner.

Their responsibilities will include scouting and assessing players during domestic and international matches, as well as selecting squads for coaching camps, tours and tournaments in India and overseas.

The committee will also be tasked with identifying young talent and strengthening the bench strength of India's junior teams.

Beyond player selection, members will contribute to the appointment of coaches and support staff, including physiotherapists, trainers, therapists, analysts and medical personnel.

They will also monitor the performance and development of junior teams and prepare periodic evaluation reports. The committee will have a role in appointing captains across formats as well.

Who Can Apply For BCCI Junior Cricket Committee?

The BCCI has laid down specific eligibility requirements for applicants.

Candidates must be former cricketers who have played at least 25 First-Class matches and must have retired from competitive cricket at least five years before applying.

The board has also stated that anyone who has served on a BCCI Cricket Committee, as defined by its Memorandum of Association and Rules and Regulations, for a total of five years will not be eligible for the Junior Cricket Committee.

Applications must be submitted by 5:00 PM IST on September 5, 2026.

Following the assessment and shortlisting process, eligible candidates will be called for personal interviews before the BCCI selects the final five members.

Junior Committee To Have Wider Responsibilities

The new committee will also oversee the organisation and conduct of BCCI junior tournaments and overseas tours.

Its responsibilities will extend to matters involving the administration and conduct of junior competitions, while members will also be expected to promote strong ethical values among young cricketers.

This will include awareness around issues such as drugs, betting and match-fixing, with interactions involving senior and former cricketers forming part of the process.
