Abhishek Banerjee is drawing the curtain on a major chapter of his professional life. The Stree and Paatal Lok actor has announced that he is stepping away from Casting Bay, the casting company he co-founded with Anmol Ahuja nearly a decade ago. The decision, however, is not about walking away from the industry. Banerjee says his increasingly demanding acting career made it difficult to give the company the attention it deserved. Speaking to HT City, the actor admitted that managing administrative responsibilities alongside a packed shooting schedule had become increasingly difficult. He also believes casting requires a personal presence in the casting room, something he could no longer consistently provide.

For Banerjee, the question ultimately came down to commitment. If he could not give the company his full attention, he felt it was better to step aside and allow a younger team to take it forward.

Actor And Casting Director: Why Banerjee Wanted A Clear Line

There was another consideration behind the decision: the potential overlap between Banerjee’s two professional identities. As his acting career grew, questions occasionally arose about the possible conflict between being an actor and a casting professional. While he noted that there had been very few projects where the two roles directly overlapped, he felt removing any ambiguity was the right move.

His departure is therefore a complete separation from Casting Bay, rather than a temporary break.

What’s Next For Abhishek Banerjee?

Banerjee has not ruled out returning to the casting world in a different capacity. Instead, he hopes to contribute towards creating a more organised and democratic ecosystem for casting professionals. For now, however, his focus is shifting towards acting and other creative pursuits. The actor says he wants to explore writing and producing, including work outside the conventional acting space.
