New Born Sold for ₹4.5 Lakh in Motihari: A shocking incident of human trafficking and shame to humanity has come to light from Motihari town in East Champaran district of Bihar. Here the parents bought their own newborn baby and sold it. As soon as the whole matter came to know, the police immediately conducted a raid and rescued the newborn baby safely. 4 people including the parents, the child buyer and an Asha worker who acted as a middleman have been arrested in this shameful scandal.

The case of money laundering reached the police

According to details revealed in the police investigation, a plan was hatched to sell the child as soon as it was born. The entire deal was settled for a total of ₹4.50 lakh. It is alleged that the middlemen did not give the full amount to the child’s parents and gave them only ₹1.50 lakh. Due to a dispute between the two parties regarding the remaining money, the whole incident reached the police and this black business of buying and selling exploded.

Asha worker turned middleman: Child secretly handed over to another family

The most shocking aspect of this case is the involvement of an Asha worker linked to the health system. A local Asha worker played a key role as an intermediary. He found a family that was willing to buy the child. After the deal was settled, the newborn was secretly handed over to the buyer’s family. Police seized ₹1.50 lakh in cash during the raid, which has been included as an important piece of evidence in the case.

Protecting the newborn child: Efforts to hand over to the Child Protection Unit

On receiving the information, the team of the city police station took immediate action and captured the child safely. At present the child is completely safe and the legal process of handing him over to the Child Protection Unit for proper care and supervision is going on. The police have registered an FIR against the accused under various serious sections of the Juvenile Justice Act (JJ Act) and human trafficking.

Suspicion of a big racket

All the arrested accused have been sent to judicial custody. Police are currently investigating whether Asha Worker was involved in similar child trafficking cases earlier. Apart from this, the accused are being interrogated in depth to find out whether this was a one-off incident or a big inter-state newborn child trafficking racket was working behind it.
