A new report has revealed the features people focus on most when purchasing a laptop. Notably, RAM and storage rank second and third on the list.
The laptop is a gadget essential to most people in today's digital world. From corporate and government offices to college and children's online classes, laptops have become a necessity. With the rapid expansion of technology, consumers have started scrutinizing various factors before making a purchase. In fact, results from the second stage of Amazon's inaugural 'Best in Tech Survey' indicate that the processor is the primary feature people check when buying a laptop, with other specifications considered subsequently.
AI features drive the craze
According to the report, many modern, advanced laptops now offer AI features that are proving popular with users. These features have significantly enhanced the overall laptop-using experience. The survey reveals that 58% of laptop buyers believe upcoming AI features could prove highly beneficial for their productivity. Meanwhile, 25% of buyers prioritize chips capable of fast AI processing, and 23% are interested in AI-based content creation and editing. Additionally, approximately 17% of users value features such as real-time transcription and translation.
Display is the top priority for tablets
Preferences differed for tablet buyers compared to laptop buyers. In the survey, 74% of tablet buyers identified display size and quality as the most critical factors. In contrast, only 12% cited price and 9% cited the processor as their primary requirement.
Extensive research before purchase
The survey also revealed that people now conduct extensive research before buying a laptop. About one-quarter of buyers spend more than two months researching before making a purchase. Reviews and ratings are also considered crucial when making the final decision.
Why Fast Processors Have Become the Preferred Choice
The processor—or CPU—is considered the most crucial component of a laptop's performance. It is responsible for handling the majority of the system's computing tasks. A fast processor ensures that applications launch quickly, working with files becomes easier, and the laptop does not slow down during multitasking. This is precisely why people purchasing laptops for tasks such as office work, academics, programming, or content creation pay special attention to the processor.
