Ishan Kishan Statement: Ishan Kishan is generally known for his aggressive batting. His style has been flamboyant in white-ball cricket, but Kishan, who is captaining East Zone in the Duleep Trophy, has said something about red-ball cricket, which has once again intensified the discussion on his Test cricket career. Kishan said that he likes red-ball cricket very much, but when he says this, people do not believe him. East Zone captain Ishan Kishan led his team to a big win against North East Zone at the BCCI Center of Excellence Ground-2 in Bengaluru. East Zone won this match by an innings and 210 runs. Although Kishan did not bat much in this match and he was out after scoring only four runs, but after the match, his statement regarding red-ball cricket came into discussion.

Kishan said that he likes the challenge of Test and first-class cricket. He said that people might not believe him when he says that he likes red-ball cricket, but it is completely true. According to him, the challenges faced in Test cricket are completely different from white-ball cricket. Kishan said that batting on a flat track is easy and there is a lot of fun in it, but the kind of challenges a batsman has to face in Test cricket takes the game to a different level. Ball movement, conditions and maintaining concentration for long periods of time make red-ball cricket difficult but exciting. Ishan Kishan has played 32 ODIs and 55 T20 Internationals for India so far. He also has 134 IPL matches to his name. So far he has got a chance to play only two matches in Test cricket. He played his last Test in July 2023. Since then he has not been able to return to the Indian Test team. Despite this, Kishan says that his love for red-ball cricket has not diminished.

The match against North East Zone was the 65th first-class match of Kishan's career. Earlier, he had played a Ranji Trophy match against Baroda in November 2025. That means he returned to first-class cricket after a gap of about nine months. During this period, he played 59 matches including IPL, international cricket and domestic cricket. Kishan admitted that it is not easy to return to red-ball cricket after playing white-ball cricket continuously. He said that it is challenging for the players to change from white-ball to red-ball and then from red-ball to white-ball cricket. The style and mentality of playing in both the formats is different. However, according to Kishan, this is the beauty of cricket. He also gave this message to the players that if someone wants to achieve great heights and create his own identity, then he will have to avoid making excuses. Kishan said that players should focus on improving themselves instead of complaining about things over which they have no control. Kishan himself could not play a big inning in this Duleep Trophy match. He was caught behind the wicket at the score of four runs. He tried to play a wide ball behind the point, but his shot did not hit properly. Kishan himself admitted that he regretted playing that shot immediately.

Kishan told that while playing the shot he realized what he was trying to do. He knew that this was a first-class match and such balls should be left. According to him, this kind of mistake can happen due to not practicing red-ball cricket for a long time. This statement of Ishan Kishan is also important because there has been continuous discussion about his Test comeback in Indian cricket. He has experience as a wicketkeeper-batsman and also the ability to bat aggressively. However, to make a place in the Test team, he will have to perform consistently in domestic red-ball cricket.
