Tezzbuzz Desk: WhatsApp has introduced many new security features to further strengthen the security of its users. The company says that with the help of these features it will help in protecting users from incidents like scam, phishing and account hacking. The new update includes the ability to add multiple passwords to a single WhatsApp account, use strong passwords for two-step verification, and get more information about calls coming from unknown numbers.

According to WhatsApp, more than 1 billion people around the world are using Passkey. With the help of passkey, users do not need to enter the verification code every time to login to the account again. Instead, the account can be accessed through fingerprint, Face ID or the phone's screen lock. After the new update, users who have both Android and iOS devices will be able to add more than one passkey for the same WhatsApp account. This option will be found in Account and then Passkeys section in Settings.

Apart from this, WhatsApp has also given the option to make two-step verification stronger. Till now users used to use 6 digit PIN to secure their account. Under the new feature, users will be able to create a strong password consisting of letters, numbers and special characters. The company believes that this will make it difficult for an attacker to guess security information. WhatsApp has advised users not to use easy and weak passwords like 123456. WhatsApp has also made important changes regarding unknown calls. Now Android users will be able to get more information about that number when they receive a call from an unsaved number. Users will be able to see whether the calling number is from another country or not and whether the person calling is included in any WhatsApp group with them. This will make it easier for users to decide whether to receive an unknown call or ignore it.

According to the company, scammers often pressure people to respond immediately or take any hasty action. In such a situation, additional information to unknown callers can help users remain alert. However, users themselves should avoid sharing OTP, password or other sensitive information with any unknown person. WhatsApp has also clarified that with these new security features, end-to-end encryption in personal messages and calls will continue as before. This means that with the new security measures, the privacy of users' conversations will also remain intact.
