Automobile Desk – Mahindra Thar 3-Door Facelift: Mahindra Thar, which has made a strong hold in the Indian automobile market, is now preparing to hit the roads in a new look. If you are also planning to buy this iconic off-roader, then waiting for some time may prove beneficial for you. The company is working rapidly on the facelift version of its popular 3-door Thar. Recently, testing models of this new SUV have been seen on Indian roads, due to which the discussions about its soon launch have intensified.

This new 3-door Thar can be officially introduced around the upcoming festive season i.e. Diwali. This time the company is not only going to make some attractive changes in its exterior design, but is also going to completely equip its cabin with hi-tech features. To a large extent, the design and feature set of the new Thar seems to be inspired by the recently launched 5-door Thar Roxx.

In terms of design, the biggest change will be seen in its front profile. Even though the vehicles were completely covered during testing, it is clear from the spy shots that it will be provided with round LED headlamps with new C-shaped LED DRLs. The company is also experimenting with the design of the grill; In one test model, a Roxx-like grill was seen, while in the other a new grill with four slats was seen. Its front bumper has also been given a new look, in which now the facility of parking sensors can also be seen.

Talking about the side profile, the traditional bold and boxy structure of the SUV has been maintained, but the new 10-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels found in it are making its side look very premium and aggressive. The cladding, side mirrors and door handles will be as strong as before. At the rear, newly designed LED taillights and updated rear bumper can be seen.

The biggest and surprising change will be felt in its cabin. Although the basic structure of the dashboard will remain the same, but it will go far ahead in terms of technology. It is expected to have a large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch fully digital driver display. Apart from this, keeping in mind the long journey and summer season, Harman Kardon audio system can be added for ventilated seats and premium sound.

The new Thar is also going to be quite advanced in terms of safety. For the first time, high-tech safety features like ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) Level-2 can be included in the 3-door model. Under this, features like Lane Keep Assist, Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning and Adaptive Cruise Control will be available, which will make highway driving very safe and comfortable.

On the mechanical front, Mahindra seems to be in no mood to make any major changes. The vehicle's reliable 2.0-litre turbo petrol, 1.5-litre diesel and 2.2-litre diesel engine options will be retained. With all these engines, 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox options will be available. Both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and 4×4 (four-by-four) drivetrain options will continue to be available to customers as before.
