This spinner has secured a place in the list of top five bowlers of India in the ICC rankings. Jasprit Bumrah, who could not play in the series against Sri Lanka due to injury, is the leading Indian bowler. On the other hand, Australia's fast bowler Mitchell Starc has become the world number-one bowler in Test cricket.

Sutare made his debut in the only Test match played against Afghanistan in June. He took 6 wickets in the first innings of that test and 1 wicket in the second innings, thus taking a total of 7 wickets on his debut. He was declared 'Player of the Match'. Even in the first test played against Sri Lanka, he had established tremendous dominance with his bowling.

Manav Suthare took a total of 10 wickets in the first test played in Galle. In which 4 wickets are included in the first innings and 6 wickets in the second innings.
