Amidst the rapid pace of monsoon in the country, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rain and strong winds in many states for August 28. According to the forecast, there is a possibility of torrential rain in 22 states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Delhi.

Weather Alert: As monsoon activities intensify again in many parts of India, the Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rain, thunder and strong winds in many states for August 28. According to the latest update of India Meteorological Department (IMD), the weather may remain bad in many parts of North India, Eastern, Central, Western and North-Eastern India. IMD's district and sub-divisional forecast for Bihar has recorded the possibility of heavy rain along with thunderstorm and lightning on August 28.

According to available forecasts, the speed of strong winds can reach 80 to 90 kilometers per hour in some areas. In such weather, the risk of trees and electric poles falling, road traffic being affected and crops being damaged increases. Due to heavy rains in hilly areas, landslides and sudden waterlogging can also occur.

Danger of rain and storm in 22 states

On August 28, rain and thunderstorm activities can be seen in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Kerala, Tripura, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Assam and Sikkim. The IMD's national update dated August 27 mentioned the impact of a low pressure area over south-eastern Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas. Due to this, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in some parts of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh.

How will the weather be in Delhi?

There may be a cloudy sky with heavy rain and thundershowers in the capital Delhi on August 28. Due to strong winds, drivers and people working in open areas will need to take special precautions. According to the local forecast, the maximum temperature in Delhi may be around 36 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature may be around 29 degrees Celsius.

More impact in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar

There is a possibility of rain and thunderstorm in many districts of Uttar Pradesh including Ghaziabad, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Agra, Aligarh, Lucknow, Ayodhya, Gorakhpur and Deoria. There may be a possibility of waterlogging and traffic disruption due to heavy rains in some parts of the state. The weather is going to be active in Bihar also.

There is a warning of heavy rain and thunderstorms in districts like West Champaran, East Champaran, Gaya, Jehanabad, Gopalganj, Rohtas, Buxar, Vaishali, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Supaul, Purnia, Kishanganj, Araria, Katihar, Bhagalpur and Munger including Patna. In the Bihar forecast of IMD, there is a possibility of heavy rain and thunderstorm and lightning activities on 28th and 29th August.

Danger of lightning in Jharkhand and eastern India

Monsoon activities may also remain intense in many parts of Jharkhand, West Bengal and Odisha. Due to the danger of lightning along with heavy rain, people are advised to avoid going to open places. In North-Eastern India, rain and thundershowers may continue in Assam, Sikkim and Tripura. IMD's latest warning bulletin for Tripura has predicted heavy rain and thunderstorm and lightning activities on August 28.

Danger of landslides in hilly states

The risk of landslides, stone falls and road closure may increase during heavy rains in the hilly areas of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. IMD has also issued a warning of heavy rain with thunder and lightning for pilgrimage and hilly areas. In Uttarakhand, the weather may remain bad in areas like Dehradun, Chamoli, Bageshwar, Nainital, Champawat, Pithoragarh, Pauri and Tehri. In Himachal Pradesh, the effect of rain and strong winds can also be seen in areas like Kullu, Kangra, Mandi, Chamba, Una and Solan.

Rainy season in Rajasthan also

There is a possibility of rain and thunderstorm in many areas of Rajasthan including Bharatpur, Jaipur, Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Sawai Madhopur, Churu, Ajmer, Tonk, Bikaner, Bundi, Chittorgarh and Dholpur. The maximum temperature in Jaipur can be around 34 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature can be around 26 degrees Celsius. The latest bulletin of IMD Jaipur for Rajasthan has recorded the possibility of rain at some places in Bharatpur, Kota and Udaipur divisions on August 28.
