Kathmandu/New Delhi: There has been huge devastation due to floods in Nepal. The death toll in this tragedy has increased to 538, the situation is such that even four days after the flood, bodies are being pulled out from the debris.

At the same time, China has issued a new warning regarding the rising water level of a lake formed due to landslide near the Nepal-Tibet border. According to officials, in case of sudden bursting of the lake, there could be another devastating flood in the low-lying areas. However, in the meantime, a relief news has also emerged. After the flood, information was received about 400 Indian citizens in China, all are said to be safe.

Nepal's disaster authority also issued a warning on Thursday, saying that the water level of the lake formed due to blockage of debris in the river flow in the flood-affected area is continuously rising and there is a danger of it breaking. The authority has appealed to people living on the lower banks of the river, travelers and personnel engaged in rescue operations to take special precautions and stay in safe places away from the river bank and risk areas.

25 lakh cubic meters of water accumulated in Tibet's lake

According to Chinese government broadcaster CCTV, by Friday morning, about 25 lakh cubic meters of water had accumulated in this lake. It has been told that on Thursday there was about 20 lakh cubic meters of water in the lake and there is a possibility of additional 30 lakh cubic meters of water getting accumulated in it in the next three days. Scientists believe that the massive flood that occurred in the same area on August 26 was probably caused by the glacier located on the mountain falling into the river. A large number of people have died in this flood in the surrounding areas. When landslide debris stops the flow of a river, a lake is formed as a temporary natural dam.

If it breaks, a large amount of water can suddenly flow downwards, causing widespread destruction. According to CCTV, 499 villagers and construction workers affected by a landslide in Guirong County of Xichang Autonomous Region in southwest China have been evacuated to safe places. Apart from this, 555 tourists have also been evacuated and sent to safe places and now no tourist is stranded there.

According to the report of The Himalayan, 469 people have been confirmed dead in eight districts, while 2,381 people are missing. 644 foreign nationals are also among the missing. India's Ministry of External Affairs has said that it is in constant touch with the authorities of Nepal and China to coordinate the rescue and evacuation of Indian citizens affected by the disaster.
