Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) convenor Abhijit Deepke has expressed serious concern about the education system of the country. He said that the entire education system of the country has been destroyed and there is an atmosphere of fear among the students regarding the future. Expressing grief over the death of 31-year-old IIT Delhi student Hrishikesh Kumar, Abhijeet Deepke said that there is a need to create such an environment in the country where students do not feel afraid and they can get full support at every level. He said that the minds of the students of the country are filled with a lot of fear about their future. To remove this fear, such changes are necessary in the education system, so that students can get an environment of cooperation and trust instead of pressure regarding studies and career.
'This condition of the best institute is worrying'- Abhijeet Deepke
Abhijit Deepke said that institutions like IIT are counted among the best educational institutions in the country, but the condition of the students there too is a matter of concern. He claimed that in the last one year, 65 students in IIT have died due to suicide. He said that this situation shows the challenges faced by students in the top educational institutions of the country. Deepke said that students should be supported instead of being left alone with their problems. It is important to identify their problems and needs in time. He said that instead of leaving students alone during their struggle, institutions should create an environment of support and assistance for them.
IIT Delhi formed external investigation committee
IIT Delhi has decided to constitute an external inquiry committee to investigate the matter. The committee includes retired Delhi High Court judge Justice Mukta Gupta and AIIMS professor Pratap Sharan. Apart from this, the Registrar of IIT Delhi and four representatives of the students have also been included in the committee. The committee will examine various aspects of the case and try to understand the issues to students in the institute.
Targeted at Subhash Chandra
Abhijeet Deepke also raised questions about businessman Subhash Chandra. He claimed that his debt of about Rs 22 thousand crore was reduced to Rs 6 crore through settlement. Deepke questioned whether a common man could also get such relief. Giving an example, he said that if a common man has a home loan of Rs 50 lakh, can the bank forgive him by taking only Rs 50 thousand? He said that the common man has to pay interest on his loan, while the big borrowers get huge relief in the principal amount also.
Raising the issue of education loan, Deepke said that students and their families also have to pay interest on education loan. He asked from where the relief received from the alleged settlement of loan of Rs 22 thousand crore will be compensated. He alleged that the burden of such relief ultimately falls on the common people and taxpayers. Deepke said that 'it has come from our taxes', hence the general public has the right to know what kind of system is adopted in such cases of big debt.
