A lot of family car buyers now want to switch to electric mobility, and as a result, automakers are now giving them a number of options. Today, as we speak, we have four electric 7-seater cars available in the Indian electric car market for buyers who want a practical EV that can accommodate the entire family. So, without any more wastage of your precious time, here are the details of the four 7-seater electric cars that you can buy today.

The first 7-seater electric car on this list is the newly launched MG Hector Tomahawk EV. It has been introduced at a starting price of Rs 19.49 lakh, ex-showroom. From there, it goes all the way up to Rs 23.49 lakh for the top-spec 7-seater Essence variant. MG is also offering a BaaS (Battery As A Service) option, with the base Excite 7-seater, which brings down the price to Rs 13.99 lakh + Rs 4.9 per km as battery rental charge.

Now, coming to the design, the MG Hector Tomahawk EV boasts a conventional SUV design with large rectangular LED headlamps. In the centre, it features a slim piano-black grille, illuminated MG logo and a tall stance. It also gets 18-inch alloy wheels, black roof rails, muscular wheel arches and wraparound LED taillamps at the rear

Moving inside the cabin, the SUV features a dual-tone brown and black cabin with a large touchscreen. It also gets soft-touch materials and a panoramic sunroof. It is available in both 5-seater and 7-seater layouts. As for the electric powertrain side of things, the MG Hector Tomahawk EV boasts a 69.2 kWh battery pack which comes paired with a single electric motor.

It is capable of producing 204 PS and 320 Nm of torque. It has a claimed range of up to 517 km and can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 8.2 seconds. It also supports 90 kW DC fast charging, which can charge the battery from 20-80 percent in around 35 minutes. The SUV also gets V2H functionality, which will help it to power a home during electricity cuts.

The next option, which has already become the best-selling 7-seater EV SUV in India, is the Mahindra XEV 9S. This is a born-electric SUV which is based on the company’s dedicated INGLO platform. The company is offering this SUV with both 6-seater and 7-seater configurations. It has been priced between Rs 19.95 lakh and Rs 30.90 lakh, ex-showroom.

As for the battery pack options, the XEV 9S comes offered with 59 kWh, 70 kWh and 79 kWh battery packs. These versions offer claimed ranges of 521 km, 600 km and 679 km, respectively. Power output goes from 228 bhp to up to 282 bhp. Meanwhile, all versions produce 380 Nm of torque.

Another major highlight is its fast charging capability. The larger battery versions support 20-80 percent charging in around 20 minutes. Now, unlike the Hector Tomahawk EV, the XEV 9S gets a more futuristic design with a full-width LED light bar, connected DRLs, vertically stacked LED projector headlamps and flush-fitting door handles.

The cabin is also much more technology-focused as it features three 12.3-inch screens, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system with Dolby Atmos, panoramic skyroof and ventilated seats across rows. It also gets Level 2+ ADAS on higher variants, along with a 540-degree camera system.

The South Korean automaker Kia also offers a 7-seater EV in India, and it is none other than the Carens Clavis EV. Its prices start at Rs 18.04 lakh and go up to Rs 25 lakh, ex-showroom. Like the XEV 9S, it is also available in both 6-seater and 7-seater configurations, which makes it suitable for families looking for a practical electric MPV.

The Carens Clavis EV comes offered with two battery options, including a 42 kWh unit which produces 133 bhp. And the other larger battery pack option is the 51.4 kWh battery, which produces 169 bhp. The claimed range stands at 404 km and 490 km, respectively. The EV also gets i-Pedal functionality, paddle shifters for regenerative braking and Eco, Normal and Sport driving modes.

The cabin is one of the biggest highlights of the Carens Clavis EV. It boasts a 26.62-inch dual panoramic screen setup which combines the digital instrument cluster and 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Higher variants also get an 8-speaker Bose sound system, ventilated front seats and ambient lighting. The second and third rows also get roof-mounted AC vents. Meanwhile, the second row gets sliding and reclining functionality. The car also gets V2L capability and Level 2 ADAS on higher variants.

The fourth option is the VinFast VF MPV 7, which was recently launched, and it has been priced at Rs 24.49 lakh, ex-showroom. Now, unlike the other cars on this list, the VF MPV 7 is strictly available in a 7-seater layout. And it has been developed specifically as a spacious family electric MPV.

It features a 60.13 kWh usable battery pack which comes paired with a front-mounted electric motor that makes 201 bhp and 280 Nm. The MPV offers a claimed range of 517 km and can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in under 9 seconds. It also supports 80 kW DC fast charging, allowing the battery to charge from 10-70 percent in around 30 minutes.

The VF MPV 7 boasts a large 2,840 mm wheelbase, which helps in maximising the cabin space. It also gets theatre-style seating arrangement, a flat floor and sliding and reclining second-row seats. Boot space stands at 126 litres with all rows in use and increases to 1,240 litres when the rear rows are folded
