There was heavy rain in Singrauli, while the situation worsened after floods in Mandla and Chitrakoot in Satna. Although now the water level of the rivers has reduced slightly, the marks of devastation caused by floods are clearly visible in many areas.

On Monday, an alert of heavy rain has been issued in 11 districts of the eastern part. Rain continued in many parts of the state till late night. School holiday has been declared in flood affected Satna from August 31 to September 1.

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rain in Rewa, Mauganj, Maihar, Sidhi, Umaria, Shahdol, Dindori, Anuppur, Mandla, Seoni and Balaghat on Monday.

Whereas Bhopal, Raisen, Sehore, Rajgarh, Vidisha, Indore, Dhar, Alirajpur, Burhanpur, Barwani, Khandwa, Khargone, Jhabua, Ujjain, Neemuch, Agar-Malwa, Mandsaur, Shajapur, Dewas, Ratlam, Narmadapuram, Betul, Harda, Gwalior, Guna, Shivpuri, Datia.

Heavy and light rain is expected in Ashoknagar, Morena, Bhind, Sheopur, Jabalpur, Katni, Chhindwara, Narsinghpur, Pandhurna, Satna, Singrauli, Umaria, Sagar, Panna, Damoh, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh and Niwari.

Mandakini river remained in spate of about 30 feet in Chitrakoot on Sunday. After the Gorgi dam broke, many areas were flooded. Due to the strong current, the big bridge of Ramghat was also washed away.

After the flood waters recede, there is accumulation of mud, garbage and mud on the houses and roads. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav reached Chitrakoot and took stock of the flood affected areas.

He met the affected people at the shelter site and distributed relief material. The Chief Minister also cited encroachment in Chitrakoot as one of the possible reasons for the floods.

Bansagar Dam full, 6 gates opened
Bansagar Dam of Shahdol has also been filled due to continuous rains. The water inflow here was earlier 808.64 cumecs, which increased to 2677.29 cumecs in 12 hours.

This time the water level of the dam is 13 cm higher than last year. In view of the situation, 6 gates of the dam were opened at 12 noon on Sunday. After this, an alert was issued in the low-lying areas.

Warning of heavy rain for the first 3 days of September
The Meteorological Department has also warned of extremely heavy rains in many districts in the first three days of September.

These include many districts including Sidhi, Umaria, Mandla, Niwari, Chhatarpur, Panna, Damoh, Narsinghpur and Narmadapuram. These areas are expected to receive 4 to 8 inches of rain in 24 hours.

More than 70 percent water in most dams
The condition of the state’s reservoirs has improved due to continuous rains. Water has reached 70 percent in most of the dams and the gates of some dams also had to be opened.

However, the condition of dams in Indore and Ujjain divisions is not better yet. The water level of Bhopal’s Big Pond has reached 1666.50 feet. Now only 0.30 feet is empty in it.

The gates of Bhadbhada Dam will be opened after the Bada Pond is completely filled. The water released from here will reach Kaliyasot Dam, due to which its water level will also increase.

27.2 inches of rain so far in the state
According to IMD (Meteorological Centre), 700 mm i.e. 27.2 inches of rain has fallen in the state so far. Despite this, there is still a deficit compared to normal rainfall.

So far, the normal rainfall should have been 30.4 inches (772.3 mm), which means 3.2 inches less water has fallen. Overall rainfall is 9 percent less than normal. The eastern part has received 5 percent less rainfall and the western part has received 12 percent less rainfall than the average.

Rainfall has reduced by 19 percent in Jabalpur, Rewa, Sagar and Shahdol divisions of Eastern Madhya Pradesh. Balaghat, Chhatarpur, Dindauri, Chhindwara, Damoh.

The mentioned districts including Jabalpur, Katni, Maihar, Mandla, Mauganj, Narsinghpur, Niwari, Pandhurna, Panna, Rewa, Sagar, Seoni and Tikamgarh have received less rainfall ranging from 1 percent to 50 percent.

In the western part, Agar-Malwa, Alirajpur, Ashoknagar, Betul, Datia, Dewas, Dhar, Harda, Indore, Jhabua, Morena, Mandsaur, Narmadapuram, Neemuch, Barwani, Khandwa, Raisen, Ratlam, Sehore, Shajapur, Sheopur, Shivpuri, Ujjain and Vidisha have received 1 percent to 51 percent less water than normal.

Whereas Anuppur, Niwari, Satna, Shahdol, Sidhi, Singrauli, Umaria, Bhind, Bhopal, Burhanpur, Datia, Guna, Gwalior, Khargone, Rajgarh and Shivpuri have recorded more than average rainfall.
