Nepal Flood 2026: The severe flash flood in Nepal has caused massive destruction. The water that came with strong current carried away with it soil, stones, trees and debris of buildings. Many houses were damaged during this period, but a green two-storey house is now the topic of discussion on social media. A scene of devastation is visible all around, whereas this house appears safe to a great extent.

The video of the house went viral on social media, after which only one question started arising in the minds of people that how did this house survive amidst such a terrible flood?

Shocking scene seen in viral video

It can be seen in the viral footage that flood water and debris is badly affecting the surrounding area. At many places buildings could not withstand the pressure of the strong current. This green colored two-storey house is visible standing in the middle. For this reason, various types of discussions started on social media regarding its strength.

Some people called it luck, while others considered the engineering of the house to be the main reason. Meanwhile, an architecture social media account tried to explain this entire matter through a video.

The structure of the house played an important role

According to the available information, RCC i.e. Reinforced Concrete Frame Structure has been used in this house. In such a structure, columns and beams made of steel bars along with concrete provide strength to the main structure.

In this type of frame, the entire pressure on the outer walls is not limited to the walls only. Columns and beams together distribute the load throughout the structure. This could be the reason why the main structure of the house remained standing despite the pressure of strong water and debris.

Not only strong house, location also became the reason

In any flash flood, the strength of the house alone does not decide whether it will survive or not. The direction in which the water is flowing and whether the house is in the path of its main flow or not also has a big impact.

According to the viral video, the house was not in the fastest and most direct flow of the flood. Some part of the water and debris came out from around the house. This would have reduced the direct pressure on the house.

The flood debris itself later became a protective shield?

Another interesting aspect comes to light in this matter. The mud and debris that came with the initial flow accumulated around the house. After this, the accumulated debris can alter the path of water to some extent, thereby reducing the direct impact of subsequent flow on the house.

However, this cannot be considered the definite reason for this incident. During a flash flood, the speed, direction of water, erosion of land and surrounding structures are constantly changing. Therefore, it would not be correct to name any one reason as the final reason only on the basis of the video.

Is it right to call it a miracle?

Seen from outside, this incident certainly appears shocking. But interpretations of the available videos indicate that there may be a combination of engineering and circumstances behind it. The strong RCC frame, the position of the house and the direction of flow of flood water may have played a role in its safety.

It is also important to keep in mind that having an RCC structure does not mean that a house will be safe from all types of floods. In a flash flood, erosion of soil around the foundation, excessive water pressure and collision of heavy debris can cause serious damage to any building.
