Desk: Have you ever thought that where people go for treatment or to party, marriage certificates can also be found there? It may sound strange, but this is really happening these days in the neighboring country China. After all, why is the Chinese government distributing marriage certificates to the youth in such a unique way? Let us understand this whole matter.

In fact, China’s declining birth rate and rapidly aging population are giving sleepless nights to the government. To tie the knot to the youth, the government has now opened marriage registration counters in banks, airports, metro stations, hospitals and even nightclubs.

According to the report of South China Morning Post, couples are getting their pre-marital health checkup done along with marriage registration under one roof at a maternal and child hospital in Shandong province. In a nightclub in Shanghai, amidst the DJ tunes and party, officials are distributing marriage certificates to the couple. At the same time, between the takeoff and landing of flights at Guangzhou Airport, along with banking services, marriage documents are also being prepared in a bank in Tianjin.

But the interesting aspect is that despite all the efforts of the government, the youth of China are not melting. In the first half of this year itself, there has been a decline of 7.5% in marriage registrations.

The youth there are clearly saying on social media that the real problem is not the complicated process of marriage registration, but inflation, unemployment, expensive houses and huge expenses for children’s education. No matter where the government opens the counter, unless the condition of the pockets and economic insecurity of the youth improves, it will be difficult to make things happen.
