India Post GDS Recruitment 2026: A great opportunity has come up for 10 pass candidates who are waiting for government recruitment. Indian Postal Department has started the recruitment process for a total of 23,757 posts of Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS). The special thing is that the candidates will not be given any written test or interview. Candidates will be selected from the merit list prepared on the basis of class 10 marks.

The online application and fee payment process will start from September 2 and will continue till September 21, 2026 at 5 PM. A correction window will be given on September 23 and 24 for corrections in the application.

Under this recruitment drive, a total of 23,757 posts are to be filled in different postal circles across the country. It includes posts of BPM, ABPM and Dak Sevak. There are 2,297 posts in Maharashtra Circle, 2,118 in Tamil Nadu and 1,691 in Uttar Pradesh. A total of 499 posts have been announced for Gujarati language in Gujarat Postal Circle.

Candidates should note that the dates for registration and online application are different. First one time registration has to be done and then online application has to be completed. Candidates need to register afresh for this schedule-2. Registration numbers of previous recruitment will not be valid.

Who can apply?

For GDS posts candidate must have 10th pass from recognized board. Must have passed in Maths and English in class 10th. Apart from this, it is necessary to have studied the prescribed local language of the postal circle for which one is applying, at least up to standard 10th. Gujarati is the local language for places in Gujarat. The minimum age of the candidate is fixed at 18 years and maximum at 40 years. Candidates belonging to reserved category will be given relaxation in upper age limit as per rules.

No Exam, Choice of 10 Marks

The most important thing about this recruitment is that there will be no separate written test for GDS selection. The merit list will be prepared by the system based on the class 10 marks or grades of the candidates. Merit shortlisted candidates will then be called for original document verification. So this recruitment can be an important opportunity for candidates with good marks in class 10th.

How much is the application fee? How much salary?

Generally, the application fee is Rs.100. Women candidates, SC, ST, PwBD and Transwomen candidates are exempted from application fee. TRCA for Branch Postmaster i.e. BPM ranges from Rs.12,000 to Rs.29,380. While TRCA has been fixed from Rs.10,000 to Rs.24,470 for Assistant Branch Postmaster and Postal Sevak.

How to apply?

Candidates have to first go to the official GDS Online Engagement Portal of India Post and do one time registration. A valid mobile number and e-mail ID will be required for registration. Candidates can apply online from September 2 after completion of registration. Information including educational details, postal circle and post preference has to be filled while applying. Candidates who are required will also have to pay the online fee. Candidates are advised to check their educational qualification, age, local language and post wise conditions in the official notification before applying.
