The performance of India's Defense Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) will be reviewed annually. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will conduct the annual review of the performance of a total of 16 defense PSUs on September 1 in New Delhi. During this period, there will be a special focus on developing indigenous technology in the defense sector, promoting self-reliance and increasing defense exports.

According to the Defense Ministry, during this meeting, 7 Defense PSUs will hand over dividend checks to the government. The Chairman and Managing Director of the Defense PSU will hand over the dividend check of the equity stake held by the government for the financial year 2025-26 to the Defense Minister.

These include Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited, Bharat Electronics Limited, Bharat Dynamics Limited, Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited, BEML and MIDHANI.

On this occasion, Rajnath Singh will also release four books to Defense PSU. These include 'Atmanirbhar DPSU', 'Jayatra towards self-reliance of Defense PSUs' and 'Disha', an initiative of Defense PSUs to provide students with practical knowledge of defense technology and modern manufacturing processes. Apart from these, two separate books will also be released on HAL's Modernization Roadmap and HAL's Indigenization Roadmap.

According to the Defense Ministry, the aim of these initiatives is to connect the youth with defense technology as well as to further strengthen indigenous capabilities in defense production. The ministry says that the performance of defense PSUs in the financial year 2025-26 has been remarkable.

The total turnover of all 16 defense PSUs stood at Rs 1.29 lakh crore, which is 15.4 percent more than in the financial year 2024-25. Similarly, the total profit after tax of these enterprises in the financial year 2025-26 was Rs 23,136 crore. It recorded an increase of 15.6 percent compared to the previous financial year.

One of the biggest achievements in the performance of Defense PSUs has been the huge growth in defense exports. Defense exports of DPSUs in the financial year 2025-26 registered an increase of 151.2 percent as compared to the previous financial year.

This growth is considered important in taking India's defense production beyond domestic needs and increasing the presence of Indian companies in the global defense market. During the annual review, the performance of DPSUs as well as efforts to development of new indigenous technologies, enhancing production capacity, modernization, indigenization and export expansion will also be discussed.
