Indian actress Aneet Padda was set to return to screens with a courtroom drama after her recent rise to fame with Saiyaara. The actress’s first look from Hunkkaar – The Roar was unveiled by the makers on Monday, August 31.
The series featured Aneet alongside Fatima Sana Shaikh, Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub and Arjun Mathur. Directed by Nitya Mehra and Karan Kapadia, the project was scheduled to premiere on JioHotstar.
The makers released character posters for the main cast ahead of the teaser launch. Aneet appeared in a simple look with her hair tied back, while Fatima was seen in a police uniform. The posters also featured Zeeshan and Arjun in their respective characters.
The teaser was scheduled to be released on September 1. The series had received an A rating, which restricted it to viewers aged 18 and above.
According to reports, Aneet played a woman who stood up against a powerful godman accused of misconduct. The story followed her fight for justice through the courtroom proceedings.
Raghubir Yadav was reportedly set to play the antagonist. The supporting cast included Ram Kapoor, Zoya Hussain, Charu Shankar, Veen Harsh and Rajesh Sharma. Heeraz Marfatia was also reported to be among the writers associated with the project.
Hunkkaar – The Roar was backed by Birla Studios and Applause Entertainment in association with Priyanka Chopra’s Purple Pebble Pictures and Mangata Films.
For Aneet, the project marked another collaboration with Nitya Mehra. The two had previously worked together on the series Big Girls Don’t Cry.
Aneet had already worked on Hunkkaar before Saiyaara brought her wider recognition. She was also set to appear in Shakti Shalini and an untitled project directed by Mohit Suri, which was expected to reunite her with Saiyaara co-star Ahaan Panday.
Before these projects, Aneet had appeared in Salaam Venky and Big Girls Don’t Cry.
