September 2026 is shaping up to be an exciting month for Indian car buyers, with several major manufacturers preparing to introduce new or updated models. From premium SUVs and luxury sedans to an all-electric performance SUV and a popular hatchback facelift, there is plenty to look forward to.

Here are four highly anticipated cars expected to launch or debut in India in September 2026.

1. Kia Sorento – September 4

Kia is preparing to bring the Sorento to India on September 4, positioning the three-row SUV as its new flagship model powered by internal-combustion technology.

The Sorento is expected to be available with two powertrain options. The 1.6-litre strong-hybrid system is rated at 238 hp and 380 Nm, while the 2.0-litre diesel engine develops 202 hp and 441 Nm.

Buyers could get a choice between six-seat and seven-seat configurationsmaking the Sorento a versatile option for larger families.

Kia has already opened bookings for the upcoming SUV, indicating that the model’s arrival in the Indian market is getting closer.

2. BMW 7 Series and i7 Facelift – September 11

BMW is scheduled to bring the updated versions of its flagship 7 Series and fully electric i7 sedans to India on September 11.

Bookings for both models opened on August 1, following their international unveiling earlier this year.

The updated 7 Series is expected to continue with petrol and diesel powertrains. International versions of the 740i and 740d retain their 3.0-litre straight-six engines.

The refreshed 740i produces 400 hp and 580 Nmrepresenting gains of 19 hp and 60 Nm respectively. Meanwhile, the 740d generates 313 hp and 670 Nmup by 27 hp and 20 Nm.

Both models continue to feature 48V mild-hybrid technologyan eight-speed automatic gearbox and BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system.

In India, BMW currently sells the 740i petrol and 740d diesel versions, while the i7 is available in eDrive 50 and M70 xDrive variants.

3. Porsche Cayenne Electric – September 30

Porsche is preparing to showcase its highly anticipated Cayenne Electric in India on September 30.

The electric SUV has already been priced in India. The standard Cayenne Electric carries a starting ex-showroom price of ₹1.77 crorewhile the more powerful Cayenne Turbo Electric is priced at ₹2.27 crore.

Both versions come equipped with a 113kWh battery pack and dual electric motors driving all four wheels.

The Turbo Electric is aimed at buyers looking for extreme performance. With Launch Control activated, it can deliver up to 1,156 hp and 1,500 Nm.

Porsche claims the performance SUV can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 2.5 secondswhile its electronically limited top speed stands at 260 kmph.

The company claims a WLTP-certified range of 537 kmmaking the Cayenne Electric a significant addition to India’s premium electric SUV segment.

4. Maruti Suzuki Baleno Facelift – September 5

One of India’s most popular premium hatchbacks is also expected to receive an update next month. The second-generation Maruti Suzuki Balenowhich arrived in 2022, is due for its mid-life facelift.

Test mule sightings have indicated that the updated Baleno could receive several styling changes, particularly around the front section. The refreshed model is expected to arrive on September 5.

Under the bonnet, however, major changes may not be on the cards. The facelift is expected to retain the existing 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol enginewhich produces 90 hp.

The petrol version is paired with either a five-speed manual or five-speed AMT.

Maruti is also expected to continue offering a CNG variant. The CNG-powered Baleno produces 77.5 hp and is currently offered exclusively with a manual transmission.

September Could Be a Busy Month for Car Launches

With models from Kia, BMW, Porsche and Maruti Suzuki lined up, September 2026 could prove to be an important month for India’s automobile market.

The Kia Sorento will target buyers looking for a premium three-row SUV, while BMW’s updated flagship sedans will appeal to luxury-car customers. Porsche’s Cayenne Electric will add another high-performance EV to the premium segment, and the Baleno facelift will bring fresh styling and updates to one of India’s best-known hatchbacks.
