New Delhi. The month of September can bring good news for central employees. A 3 percent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) is expected to be implemented from July 2026. If the government approves it, the DA of the employees may increase from the current 60% to 63%. Central pensioners are also likely to get the benefit of increase in DR.

Eyes fixed on September announcement

The central government usually amends DA twice a year. The first amendment is considered effective from January and the second from July. DA was increased from 58% to 60% in January 2026. Now the official announcement of the next increase in July 2026 is awaited. However, the talk of 3% increase is still based on estimates and the final decision will be taken only after the approval of the government.

Pensioners can also get benefits

If the increase in DA is approved, the Dearness Relief (DR) of central pensioners may also increase in the same proportion.

DA is calculated on the basis of inflation linked AICPI-IW data. Now the eyes of employees and pensioners are fixed on the next decision of the government. If 3% DA hike is approved then lakhs of people may see an increase in their monthly income.
