The downward trend in gold prices continues. On the morning of September 2, the price of 24-carat gold in the capital, Delhi, slipped to ₹154,230 per 10 grams. In Mumbai and Kolkata, the rate has reached ₹154,080 per 10 grams. Gold prices in India are under pressure due to rising tensions between the US and Iran, which have caused a surge in crude oil prices. Concerns regarding inflation are also mounting as crude oil becomes more expensive. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged people not to buy gold unless necessary.

There is a sell-off in gold globally. The possibility of an interest rate hike remains following a hawkish speech by Federal Reserve official Kevin Warsh at the Jackson Hole symposium last week. In the international market, spot gold is trading at $4,368.58 per ounce.
