National Payments Corporation of India is working on a new UAP. This will allow AI agents to make payments through UPI on behalf of users. This means that AI will not only provide you with information, but will also be able to make payments directly with your permission.

How will AI UPI payments work?

Suppose you want to book a train or flight ticket. You just tell the AI ​​what date you want the ticket and what is your budget and rest assured. Now AI will do your next job. It will find the option for you according to your preference, book the ticket and make the payment. Similarly, AI will help you to pay electricity, mobile and gas bills or make daily purchases. This eliminates the need to repeatedly open the UPI app for every small transaction. But that doesn't mean AI will take complete control of your bank account, you'll have your rights.

Don't need approval for every payment?

Currently, while making a UPI payment, the user has to initiate the transaction himself and give the necessary permissions. In the new agentic payment model, there will be some small and regular payments that AI can make auto payments based on pre-defined rules. For this, users have to predetermine how much money the AI ​​can spend and what kind of payments it can make.

Which payments will be covered?

Initially, such agent payments are expected to be used for small and day-to-day transactions. This means that tasks like tickets, bills or small purchases can be easier at first. In the future, this technology may be used in more complex financial operations, but it will require different regulations and security arrangements.
