This protest has started even before Mohan Bhagwat reached London. 15 organizations and many people have written a letter to London Mayor Sadiq Khan demanding that no space in the Greater London Authority should be vacated for the RSS program during Mohan Bhagwat's visit. In the letter, RSS has been called a “dictator, military” and “fascist” group.

Britain must not be sheltered, there must be no place for hatred

Britain should not shelter the leader of an organization with a serious history of right-wing violence. There should be no place for such hatred in our city. British MP Jeremy Corbyn said that it is really shocking that this is happening. Other organizations have also appealed to Mayor Sadiq Khan through their letters to confirm that no representative of his office will participate in RSS- events, the organization said. Organizations that have written a letter to the Mayor of London include Hindus for Human Rights, UK-Indian Muslim Council, India Labor Solidarity and South Asia Solidarity Group. No explanation or statement has been received from the office of London Mayor Sadiq Khan on this matter.

Meanwhile, Mohan Bhagwat has reached UK after visiting US and Canada. Mohan Bhagwat will stay here till 7th September. During this time, he will participate in many events. The groups opposing Mohan Bhagwat's visit have specifically mentioned the then British High Commission's report on the alleged role of RSS in the 2002 Gujarat riots. In that letter, RSS was described as a group that promotes discrimination, targets religious minorities and whose actions are against the values of the UK.
