Lucknow. Neglect of patients and negligence in duty in government hospitals proved costly. The services of 26 doctors have been terminated for their continuous absence from duty and non-fulfillment of medical responsibilities. At the same time, instructions have been given to take departmental action against nine other doctors for disobeying the orders of higher officials and negligence in medical work.

On the instructions of Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak, the Health Department reviewed the cases to allegations of prolonged absenteeism and negligence. Dismissal action was taken after the departmental process was completed. Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak said that the primary responsibility of the doctors posted in government hospitals is to provide timely, better and quality treatment to the patients. Strict action will continue against those missing from duty or ignoring medical responsibilities. He has instructed the officials to regularly monitor the presence of doctors in hospitals, OPD-IPD services and treatment being given to patients. If any negligence is noticed at any level, action will be taken against the concerned as per rules.

The 26 dismissed doctors were posted in different districts of the state. These include many districts including Firozabad, Aligarh, Ghazipur, Hardoi, Mahoba, Bulandshahr, Lucknow, Balrampur, Mathura, Mirzapur, Jhansi, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Saharanpur, Moradabad, Chandauli, Mainpuri, Mau, Sultanpur and Muzaffarnagar. Instructions have been given to take departmental action against nine doctors posted in Etawah, Rampur, Meerut, Badaun, Bhadohi, Balrampur and Gautam Buddha Nagar.
