South star actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu often shares her home garden on social media. He also gives small gardening tips to fans. According to him, it is important to keep a few important points in mind while sowing seeds for good yield.

  • Choose healthy seeds

Strong seedlings will be produced from good quality seeds. Seedlings grown from weak or damaged seeds can be easily damaged. As the immunity of such seedlings is low, the seedlings are easily attacked by insects.

Generally weak seeds are small in size, light in weight, pale in color and have a wrinkled shell. Seeds that float in water. Be sure to check the expiration date for store-bought seeds. Even if you buy online, it is important to compare it.

Even high quality seeds will spoil if not stored properly. It is prone to rot especially during monsoon. So buy seeds and always store them in a cool, dry place and away from sunlight. Many people find that soaking it in water for a few hours before planting it freshens it.

  • Wet the soil slightly

Moisten the soil or cocopeat by lightly sprinkling water before sowing. Do not pour excess water, it turns the soil muddy. Excess water can also damage the seeds.

It is generally best not to plant the seeds deeper than 1-2 cm in the soil. If the seeds are planted too deep, it takes time for new seedlings to emerge above the soil. This can lead to stunted growth.

Loosen the soil or cocopeat while planting the seeds. Pressing the soil too hard with water will block the way the seedlings can emerge.
