India will take on Pakistan in their next match of the ongoing Women’s Asia Cup 2026 in Dubai on Saturday. The Men in Blue are in form, and they have an impressive track record against the arch-rivals. Deepti Sharma is not thinking about the contest as she is aware of her team’s dominating history against Pakistan. The all-rounder mentioned that India are always one step ahead and will be sticking to their plans when they take the field against the Women in Green.

India are unbeaten against Pakistan in women’s ODIs, while their last loss to the opposite numbers in T20Is came in the 2022 Asia Cup. Pakistan have secured just three wins over India in 17 matches. When the two countries competed in the 2026 T20 World Cup, India cruised to a comprehensive victory, with Deepti Sharma taking 5 wickets for 10 runs from her 4 overs.

Speaking before the Group A fixture, Deepti said that India have been winning against Pakistan because players are executing their plans on the field and it has nothing to do with the psychological advantage.

“There is no advantage. Whenever we have won against Pakistan in the Asia Cup or any other tournament, we have managed to stay one step ahead of them,” Deepti said at the pre-match press conference, as quoted by PTI.

“The team is performing well. The batting and bowling units are balanced. The players who have a good day try to make it even better. The others try to stay positive and learn from the performers in order to contribute in the upcoming games,” she added.

India women have already qualified for the semi-finals and are leading the points table after defeating Thailand and Hong Kong, which means less pressure against Pakistan.

Deepti didn’t get into too much detail about Pakistan and remained focused on India’s strengths.

“We have a good team and their bowlers are also good. We know about it, but we are more focused on our strengths. We want to play good brand of cricket, and we are just focusing on it,” she mentioned.

“As a bowling unit or a batting unit, the focus always remains on good cricket. The team is looking forward to the game, and that’s our mindset.”

Deepti has taken six wickets in two matches at an average of 1.5. Sree Charani and Prema Rawat have also done well with the ball, dismissing six batters. Deepti tries to pass on her experience to the other two spinners, and she heaped massive praise on Charani.

“Charani is a good bowler, and she is number one in the rankings. She has been performing for a long time, and the way she turns the ball is unbelievable. It is not easy to face her.

“Prema is also good despite not playing many matches. Whenever she is given a chance to bowl, she is one step ahead. She is always looking for wickets,” she said.

“I am trying to help them as much as I can on the field and in the nets. I share my experience with them. Being a senior player, I make sure that I am available for them whenever they need me,” she concluded.

The Women in Blue would be hoping to keep their unbeaten run intact and finish the group stage on a high before the knockout stage of the tournament.
