Delhi NCR Rain: After Friday, rain continued in Delhi-NCR on Saturday morning also. Due to heavy rains in many areas of NCR including Noida, the temperature dropped and the weather became pleasant. The rain on the day of Janmashtami gave relief to the people from the heat, however, due to waterlogging in many areas, drivers and pedestrians had to face problems.
The effect of heavy rain in Delhi on Friday was also visible at IGI Airport. After 75.6 mm of rain was recorded in Palam, the forecourts of Terminal-2 and Terminal-3 were flooded. The situation outside Terminal-3 was worse. Here the water reached the gate of the main building and there was waterlogging of about one foot.
Waterlogging also affected airlines. 11 domestic and foreign flights reaching Delhi had to be diverted, while about 400 flights were delayed. About 60 percent of arrival flights and about 90 percent of departure flights were affected. Passengers had to wait for 40 minutes to an hour.
Passengers had to pass through water
It started raining in Delhi around 2.30 pm on Friday afternoon and it continued to rain heavily for about two hours. Within just half an hour, water started accumulating in the forecourt of Terminal 3. As the rain increased, the water reached the main gate.
The movement of passengers was affected due to about one foot of water in the forecourt. Due to waterlogging, passengers were also stopped from going to the airside. After waiting for about 40 minutes, the passengers had to wade through water. The shoes of many passengers also got wet in water.
Waterlogging on many roads of Noida
Due to the rain on Friday afternoon, there was waterlogging at many places in Noida. Water accumulated on the internal roads connecting the villages, where there is no proper drainage system.
