La Paz. The terrible explosion that occurred on Friday in the military barracks located in Viacha, Bolivia, created chaos in the area. At least 10 people died in the accident, while 62 others are said to be injured. The explosion occurred at a military complex located about 30 kilometers from the capital La Paz. According to local officials, the explosion occurred at around 2:30 pm. According to initial information, firecrackers or fireworks items kept in the military complex are being said as a possible reason. However, the actual cause of the explosion has not been officially confirmed yet.

Fear of explosion in firecracker store

According to officials, a stock of firecrackers belonging to the Defense Ministry was kept in the part of the military complex where the blast took place. In the initial investigation, there is a possibility that the explosion may have started from this store. Viacha’s health director Rita Nebraska told local television that 10 to 15 people were feared dead in the accident. At the same time, information about 62 people being injured has come to light. He said that 14 injured have been sent to hospitals in La Paz for better treatment. These include a girl, who suffered severe third-degree burns.

The blast was so powerful that the windows of many houses located around the military complex were broken. According to the police, the explosion caused damage in the surrounding areas as well. After the blast, a large number of police and security forces were deployed on the spot, so that the area could be secured and there would be no problem in the relief operation.
