According to the police, the 1,344 bodies recovered include 489 men, 269 women, 52 boys and 33 girls. Apart from this, partial body parts of 501 bodies, which have not yet been identified, have also been found.
The 4,898 missing include 4,250 Nepalese nationals and 618 foreign nationals. Among the missing Nepalese nationals are 2,448 men and 482 women. Police said 1,350 missing persons were reported by phone.
8,631 people were saved alive
So far, 8,631 people have been rescued from the flood-hit areas, including 7,387 Nepalis and 1,244 foreign nationals. At the same time, 3,655 people displaced by the floods are currently housed in various holding centres.
Final disposal of 1,030 dead bodies
Of the bodies found, 1,030 have been buried and disposed of. DNA sampling for identification of the dead has also been speeded up. So far, DNA samples of 1,260 deceased and 972 relatives of the deceased, i.e. a total of 2,232 people, have been collected. According to the police, details of 1,270 unidentified persons have been uploaded on the website so that their family members and concerned people can help in the identification process.
