New report says Arsenal missed out on a £70m-plus move for Kevin Schade this summer

Arsenal are understood to have made an enquiry over a possible summer transfer for Brentford winger Kevin Schade.

The Germany international has impressed during his spell in the Premier League and appears to be the kind of player Brentford could eventually sell for a major profit.

Brentford have previously cashed in on players such as Bryan Mbeumo, and it looks quite possible that Schade could also go on to earn a move to a bigger club.

According to TEAMtalk, Arsenal were interested in Schade this summer, but did not take the move any further because Brentford would have demanded more than the £70m they received for Mbeumo.

Kevin Schade could again become one to watch for Arsenal in the future.

It is easy to imagine Arsenal revisiting Schade at a later stage, with the 24-year-old looking set to remain one of the Premier League’s most productive attacking players.

We had also previously heard that the Gunners were monitoring Schade, and it would not be a surprise if other big six clubs were also tempted by him.

Arsenal ultimately did not complete a major attacking signing this summer, although Christos Tzolis has shown some encouraging signs since arriving from Club Brugge.

By January, however, it may become apparent that AFC need greater depth in that area of the pitch, and Schade could be a player worth going after.

With those two no longer available, Arsenal may find there are not many alternative options left, so there could be plenty of logic in making another attempt for Schade.

Arsenal aimed right at the top end of the market this summer, but eventually missed out on players such as Vinicius Junior, Julian Alvarez, and Morgan Rogers.

That could force them to rethink their approach and consider a move for someone like Schade instead.
