BJP MP Kangana Ranaut: BJP MP from Mandi, Kangana Ranaut, expressed strong criticism over the working of officials in the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (Disha) meeting. While reviewing the centrally sponsored schemes and the ongoing development works under the MP Fund, he instructed the officers to work responsibly and emphasized on transparent and proper utilization of public money.

‘Out of 11 crores, only 50 lakhs were spent’

Kangana Ranaut said that around Rs 11 crore was available under her MP fund, but officials have spent only Rs 50 lakh out of it. He sought a response from the Block Development Officers (BDO) regarding the delay in development works and also sought a cost performance report.

Kangana hit out at the officials and said that they are given the same kind of assurance in every ‘Disha Committee’ meeting. He said that when asked about the MPLADS fund, he is told that there is no problem and about 90 percent of the fund has been spent.

‘Even my office is not heard’

During the meeting, Kang became more aggressive towards the officials. He said that the officials have to be asked to work by sending a letter from the center, but the work is not done.

He further said that even his office is not being listened to and due to this negative publicity is being generated. People are making reels and their image is being mocked.

Kangana questioned the officials that if their office is handed over to them, they can show it working in a single day.

‘Public money should not be misused’

The MP said that the main objective of government schemes is to deliver their benefits to the eligible beneficiaries. Questioning the system, he said public money should not be misused under any circumstances.

Kangana claimed that around 30 to 40 per cent of public money is likely to go into wrong hands and the monitoring system of the schemes needs to be strengthened.

Benefit of schemes reaching out to villages and the needy

Kangana Ranaut told the officials that the central government’s schemes should not remain only on paper, but their real benefits should reach the villages and needy people.

He directed to seriously monitor the quality of development works, progress of schemes and utilization of government funds.

‘Work on time and maintain quality’

Kangana said that it is the responsibility of both public representatives and officials to ensure that public money is used with complete transparency. Any level of negligence or irregularity should not be ignored.

He gave clear instructions to the officials to complete the development plans within the time frame and maintain the quality of work. Kangana emphasized that the main priority of the administration should be to extend the benefits of the government schemes to the last person of the society.
