Technology Desk. WhatsApp is preparing to further improve the chatting experience of its users. The company is working on a feature with the help of which users will be able to chat with Google, OpenAI and other third-party AI agents without leaving WhatsApp.
After the introduction of this feature, a separate chat window can be found in WhatsApp for each AI agent. With this, users will be able to do many everyday tasks directly through WhatsApp.
Option of AI agents will be available in settings
According to WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo, a new section named Agents can be added to the app's settings. From here users will be able to connect the AI agent of their choice to WhatsApp.
Currently this feature is being tested for some beta users of Android. In the coming time, it can be released for more users. However, WhatsApp has not yet officially announced this feature.
AI agent will be connected with API key
Users can get an API Key to connect the AI agent to WhatsApp. By entering this key in the website or app of the concerned AI service, connection can be made with the WhatsApp account. Once connected, a separate chat will be available in WhatsApp for the AI agent.
You will also be able to change the name and photo of the AI agent.
Users will be able to customize the connected AI agent as per their liking. For this, the name and profile photo of the agent can be changed. Information about adding maximum 5 AI agents to one WhatsApp account has come to light.
You will not get access to other chats
User privacy will also be taken care of in this feature. According to the information, after connecting to WhatsApp, the AI agent will not get access to other personal chats, contacts or media files of the user. There will also be no facility to add the AI agent to any group chat or community. It can be used only in personal chat.
What will happen if the agent is removed?
If a user removes an AI agent from WhatsApp, his connection will be terminated. However, the old chat history with that agent will remain in WhatsApp. The user can delete this chat history later as per his need.
Currently this feature is in testing phase. Therefore, there may be a change in its final features and date of rollout for all users.
