Bollywood actress Bipasha Basu is going to make a comeback in the world of acting after a long time. She will be seen in filmmaker Hansal Mehta’s upcoming crime thriller series ‘Barabanki’. According to reports, Bipasha has started shooting for this series in Mumbai. This project is also special for her because this is her first work with Hansal Mehta.
The story of ‘Barabanki’ is based on retired IPS officer Alok Lal’s book ‘The Barabanki Narcos: Busting India’s Most Notorious Drug Cartel’. The story focuses on the operation conducted against a big opium gang operating in the Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh. Haani will be shown in the background of the year 1984. It will show how an IPS officer and his team conduct a campaign to eliminate a powerful drug cartel.
Sunny Kaushal and Vishal Jethwa will also be a part
Apart from Bipasha Basu, Sunny Kaushal and ‘Homebound’ fame actor Vishal Jethwa will also be seen in this series. However, information to the characters of both has not been revealed yet. Along with the police team, the series can also show the story of those people who helped the authorities in taking action against the cartel. These people also included informers, former drug addicts and people involved in small-scale drug smuggling.
Suspense on Bipasha’s character
Bipasha Basu’s character has been kept a secret for now. According to reports, her character is deeply connected to the main character of the story. It is also being told that Bipasha will be seen in a completely different look in this series. When Hansal Mehta approached Bipasha for this project, she immediately agreed to do the work. This comeback is considered very special for the actress.
Return to OTT after almost six years
Bipasha Basu’s last feature film ‘Alone’ was released in 2015. After this, she worked in the OTT thriller ‘Dangerous’ in 2020. Now after about six years, she is making a comeback to acting with a big screen project. After the birth of daughter Devi in 2022, Bipasha had distanced herself from films and web projects. However, she has remained active through social media and brand work.
Bipasha also spoke on trolling after becoming a mother
Recently, Bipasha had also talked about the trolling and body shaming about her body after becoming a mother. She had termed the expectation of women to immediately return to their old body after pregnancy as wrong. Now her acting comeback through ‘Barabanki’ has become a special attraction for the fans.
