He recalled how after the release of his directorial debut movie, he decided to buy his first designer jacket to celebrate the success.

“I proudly walked into the Burberry store and bought the only jacket that fit me. I wore it and in my head I was looking rather smashing.”

“My father looked at m perplexed and asked, ‘Beta… yeh kya hai…’ With pride, as if I had conquered Bond Street itself – I said, ‘Papa yeh Burberry hai!”

Yash was quick enough to say, “Beta ye Burberry nahi… bohat buri hai…”

The 54-year-old said that he was shattered by the comment but at the same time it made him laugh.

“That was my father – rooted, basic and very very funny.”

Karan also reminisced the final moments of his father when he was on ventilator and was about to take his last breath.

Yash Johar acted as a producer for some evergreen films namely Never say goodbye, tomorrow never happens, never happiness, never sorrow, Duplicate, Agneepath and many more.
