Bryan Mbeumo broke the deadlock in the 47th minute before Tyrique George pulled Everton level in the 83rd minute with a superb strike. Benjamin Sesko then put his side ahead with a fine header just five minutes later. However, Ainsley Maitland-Niles came up with a dramatic equaliser for Everton in stoppage time, finding the net with an excellent effort.
