How to make Puran Poli?
1. First prepare chana dal
Wash chana dal thoroughly and soak it for about 30 minutes. After this cook it until it becomes soft. After the dal is cooked, drain off the excess water thoroughly, so that the filling is not too thin.
2. Make sweet filling
Now put the cooked lentils in a pan and add jaggery to it and cook on low flame. Keep stirring the mixture continuously until it thickens and becomes uniform. Finally add cardamom and some nutmeg powder to it. Let the prepared mixture cool.
3. Knead soft dough
Take wheat flour in a vessel. Add some salt and ghee or oil to it and mix. Knead a soft dough with the help of water and keep it covered for some time. Since the dough is soft, it is easy to roll Puran Poli.
4. Fill puran in the dough
Make small balls of dough and spread it a little. Place prepared chana dal and jaggery filling in the center and close the edges. Now roll it gently and give it the shape of Puran Poli.
5. Bake on the pan
Place Puran Poli on hot pan and cook till it becomes light golden from both the sides. While baking, apply some ghee on top. When Puran Poli is cooked well, take it out from the pan.
