Ingredients for Cheese Masala Appe
Semolina 1 cup, curd ¾ cup, salt 1 tsp, water 1 cup, black pepper 15 grains, oil 2 tbsp, dry red chilli 2, asafoetida half tsp, mustard 1 tsp, cumin 1 tsp, chana dal 2 tsp, urad dal 1 tsp, ginger chopped 2 tsp, green chilli 2, curry leaves, carrot, grated half cup, onion chopped half cup, green coriander Handful, baking powder 1 tsp, oil for spraying, cheese cubes
How to make Cheese Masala Appe
- Step 1: To make Cheese Masala Appe, first make a smooth batter by mixing semolina, curd, salt and water in a bowl. Keep it for 10-15 minutes so that the semolina becomes soft.
- Step 2: After the stipulated time, heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan. Add black pepper and dry red chilli to it and fry it lightly. After this add asafoetida, mustard, cumin, chana dal and urad dal. Let them crackle and turn light golden. After that, add chopped ginger, green chilli and curry leaves. Fry until nice aroma comes out.
- Step 3: Now, add grated carrot and chopped onion and cook for 2-3 minutes until slightly soft. When it turns light golden, turn off the flame and add chopped coriander. Add this tempering to the prepared batter and mix well.
- Step 4: Now, just before cooking, add baking powder and mix well. Heat the appe pan and lightly spray each dish with oil. Pour some batter, place a small piece of cheese in the middle and cover with some more batter on top.
- Step 5: Now cook the appe on medium flame, keep turning occasionally, until the appe becomes golden and crunchy from all sides. Now serve appe hot with green chutney or ketchup.
