In many states of the country, monsoon has adopted a very aggressive form even in its last phase. According to the latest reports of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), continuous heavy rains have wreaked havoc in parts of Himachal Pradesh, Bihar and other parts of North India. In the mountainous states, main roads have been blocked due to landslides and falling of stones, while in the plains and coastal areas, rivers are in spate, due to which normal life has been badly affected.
According to the information received, due to continuous rains in Himachal Pradesh, incidents of landslides have occurred at many places, due to which traffic has come to a standstill and tourists and local people are facing a lot of problems. On the other hand, heavy rains are also continuing in the northeastern and eastern states like Bihar and eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh, which has created a serious problem of waterlogging in low-lying areas. The Meteorological Department has issued 'Orange and Red Alert' of heavy to very heavy rain in many states for the next few days, and has also warned of strong winds.
The central and state governments have become fully alert to deal with this natural disaster. Teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed in sensitive and landslide-prone areas. The administration has appealed to the people to avoid unnecessary travel during bad weather, avoid traveling at night on hilly roads and completely avoid going near rivers or water bodies.
