Patna. There is relief news for the doctors and teachers working on contract in government medical colleges and hospitals of Bihar. The Health Department has issued an order to increase the honorarium of various posts and implement new rates. Everyone from professor to junior resident will benefit from this.
Who will get how much honorarium?
Under the revised system, professors will now get Rs 2.07 lakh, associate professors will get Rs 1.55 lakh and assistant professors will get Rs 1.25 lakh per month. At the same time, the honorarium of Senior Resident/Tutor has been increased to Rs 1.15 lakh and that of Junior Resident to Rs 75 thousand per month.
New rate implemented from September 1
According to the Health Department, the increased honorarium will be considered effective from September 1, 2026. The government says that this decision will encourage specialist doctors and qualified teachers in medical colleges. It will also help in further strengthening medical education and health services.
