‘Manoj Jarange is my brother’

During an event in Nagpur, journalists questioned Amrita Fadnavis about Manoj Jarange Patil’s agitation. In response, he treated Jarange as his brother and invited him to his home for dinner. This statement by Amrita Fadnavis comes at a time when Jarange Marathas are on a hunger strike at Antarwali Sarati in Jalna district demanding reservation. September 10 was the 13th day of his fast.

Jarange said – I will definitely go to Bhaubiji

Reacting to Amrita Fadnavis’ invitation, Manoj Jarange called her a sister. He said that as the fight for the rights of the Maratha community is going on now, they cannot leave the movement and go for food. However, they will surely go to their homes on the day of Bhaubij, the festival of brothers and sisters. According to reports, Jarange has also talked about going with a traditional gift for his sister. However, he made it clear that this personal relationship would not affect his fight for Maratha reservation.

The fasting movement has been going on for 13 days

Manoj Jarange is on an indefinite fast again with demands including giving Kunbi certificate to the eligible members of the Maratha community. His main demand also included the issue of going ahead with the process of issuing certificates based on lakhs of Kunbi notes found earlier. During the agitation, Jarang has been continuously attacking the government and especially Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. He was also given IV fluids recently as his condition worsened.

What is Fadnavis government’s stance on reservation?

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has said on the issue of Maratha reservation that the government is ready to take all possible steps within the limits of the constitution. Also, he has made it clear that the share of one society will not be taken away and given to another society. He has also said that the doors of the government are open for dialogue. Thus, on the one hand political and social tension is rising over Maratha reservation, on the other hand the ‘brother-sister’ dialogue between Amrita Fadnavis and Manoj Jarange has become a topic of discussion in the political circles of Maharashtra.
