A foreign cargo ship docked at the Peihai Shipyard in Tsingtao city of East China’s Shandong province at 11:11 a.m. on Thursday caught fire during repairs, causing a large number of casualties.
After the incident, Xi Jinping gave important instructions and demanded to make proper arrangements for timely search of missing people, to provide consolation after the disaster, and to find out the cause of the incident as soon as possible and find out those responsible for the incident as per the law.
He stressed that various sectors and departments have to learn from this incident, investigate the danger of various types of fire, implement prevention measures closely and protect the life and property of the public by averting a major incident in time.
Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang also commented on the incident. Now various rescue and relief operations are going on.
