Amrita Fadnavis, wife of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, said she stood by her statement in support of Muslims’ entry into Garba. He said, ‘I am being trolled as a political wife on this issue. I am not political. I am making a statement as a social worker and citizen.’
There was more than one talk of giving entry to the festival to Muslims…Earlier, Amrita had said in a conversation with the media after a program in Nagpur on Wednesday night that, ‘Festivals like Navratri and Garba will bring everyone together. In which there should be no distinction of caste-religion. Checking ID cards is a good thing, but checking people on the basis of religion is not right.’ Earlier on Tuesday too, Amrita had said that, ‘If Muslims come to see Garba, there is nothing wrong in it.’ Earlier too, Amrita has been showing her statements or thoughts different from her husband’s politics.
The World Hindu Parishad demanded a ban on Muslims, which Rane supportedIt is worth mentioning that the World Hindu Parishad had talked about the ban on the entry of Muslims in Garba and Navratri. While state minister and BJP leader Narayan Rane also supported the demand of VHP. Rane supported the ban citing the risk of ‘love jihad’ on the entry of Muslims. On these things, Amrita Fadnavis said that if cases like ‘Love Jihad’ are coming up, strict laws should be brought in this matter and the existing laws should be strengthened. Supporting Amrita’s talk of keeping Muslims together in the festival, the Congress leaders in the opposition appealed to the Chief Minister and the ruling party BJP to explain this too.
