Tight security in Barsana on Radhashtami, surveillance will be done with 155 cameras

The district administration has prepared a comprehensive blueprint of security and arrangements in Barsana regarding the Radhashtami festival-2026. The fair preparations were reviewed in a meeting jointly chaired by District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh and Senior Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar. Instructions were given to the officials that the devotees coming on Radhashtami should not face any problem in darshan, traffic and other arrangements.

Zone-sector division and facilities of the fair area

Additional District Magistrate Administration Amresh Kumar said that the Barsana fair area has been divided into 7 zones and 20 sectors. 38 holding areas will be created for crowd control. Apart from this, there will be arrangements for 50 parking lots, 6 watch towers, 88 barriers and barricading at 14 places. 12 divers, one boat, 35 water tankers, 30 mobile toilets and 100 loudspeakers will be installed in the fair area. Shoe sheds will also be built at 7 places for the devotees.

Surveillance from 155 CCTV cameras

A total of 155 CCTV cameras will be monitored at 50 places during Radhashtami in Barsana. There are already 60 cameras installed at 22 locations in the town, while 32 permanent cameras are operational in the Sri Radharani Temple complex. Apart from this, 63 temporary cameras will be installed at 27 places. The fair control room will be established in the inspection building auditorium of the Public Works Department.

Static set and watch tower arrangement

For crowd control, static sets will be installed at 7 places including Peeli Kothi, Shreeji Gate, Katara Park, Sanjay Vakil Tiraha, Sudama Chowk, Safed Chhatri and Jaipur Temple. Watch towers will be installed near Peeli Kothi, Katara Park, Priyakund Tiraha, Rangili Mahal, Govardhan Road, on the banks of the drain and near the bus stand.

Health camps and medical teams will be deployed at 12 places by the Health Department. Community Health Center Barsana will be made a health control room. The District Magistrate gave instructions to get bike ambulances, ambulances at regular distances and mapping of nearby hospitals. Also asked to ensure availability of anti-venom medicine.

Roadways Bus Service

Roadways will operate 160 buses for the fair, while 40 buses will remain in reserve. Two drivers each will be provided in all buses.

Road, Electricity and Food Safety Instructions

The DM instructed the Public Works Department to make all the roads pothole free. The electricity department was asked to ensure uninterrupted power supply and plastic wrapping of transformers and electric poles. The Food Safety Department was instructed to conduct a campaign to check food items and make shopkeepers aware.

Lighting and Encroachment Free Zone

Mathura-Vrindavan Development Authority has been instructed to provide better lighting, decoration, wall painting and facade lighting in the entire fair area. The Irrigation Department was asked to clean the canals and make the surrounding area free from encroachment.

SSP’s security instructions

While giving instructions to make the fair area encroachment free, SSP Shlok Kumar said that security arrangements should be kept tight and devotees should be treated politely. He directed for continuous monitoring from CCTV control room, regular announcement from PA system and making the lost and found center effective.

Instructions to other departments

The DM instructed the Forest Department to get the bushes cut and pruning done, the Fire Department to arrange for adequate fire cylinders and fire vehicles and to get the ropeway checked. Also asked to issue notices to the owners of dilapidated houses, shops, hotels and dharamshalas and to install adequate direction boards in the fair area.
