The Delhi Government has announced a monthly incentive of Rs 2,000 for eligible athletes under the Under-14, Under-17, Under-19, and Under-21 categories who train regularly at government sports centers and stadiums, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated on September 10.
In a post on X, the Chief Minister said the support aims to encourage young athletes to maintain consistent practice. “Keep playing, keep striving. Our government will ensure that Delhi’s young sporting talent gets the support and opportunities it deserves,” she added.
Meanwhile, on September 8, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) organized a special send-off for India’s contingent preparing for the Asian Games 2026. The event included athletes, coaches, support staff, dignitaries, and partners.
The Asian Games 2026 is scheduled to take place from September 19 to October 4 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. Indian athletes will compete across various disciplines against other top sporting nations from the continent.
Coaches and support staff accompanied the athletes at the send-off ceremony as Team India prepares to participate in the continental sporting event.
