Ganesh Festival 2026: With Ganesh Chaturthi, preparations to welcome Ganpati Bappa have intensified across the country. This year Ganesh Mahotsav will start from 14th September and Anant Chaturdashi will be on 25th September. Even in Surat, Gujarat, preparations are going on in full swing to make Ganeshotsav special. This time, such a grand pandal is being prepared for Lord Ganesha in the Vesu area of the city, seeing which the devotees will feel like being in the king’s court. A huge palace-like pandal is being built by Lokmanya Tilak Ganesh Utsav Committee in an area of about 40 thousand square meters. The most special thing about this event is the 22 feet high Ganesh statue to be installed here. About 700 kg of tissue paper is being used to prepare the statue. According to the organisers, its aim is to keep the statue relatively light and give it an eco-friendly appearance.
Bappa’s grand court is being prepared in 40 thousand square meters.
This pandal being prepared in Vesu area is already attracting people’s attention due to its huge size and palace-like design. Organizers and artisans are working day and night to prepare the pandal. This time the committee has kept the theme of Ganpati festival as ‘King’s Court’. Organizers say that when Ganapati is considered a king, his court should also be decorated with the same grandeur. In this entire event, special attention is being given to grandeur along with religious faith. The huge pandal and 22 feet statue is going to be the main attraction for the devotees during Ganeshotsav.
22 feet Ganesh idol will be made from 700 kg tissue paper
This time the idol of Bappa is being prepared in a special way. About 700 kg of tissue paper is being used to make the 22 feet high statue. The committee says that by preparing the statue from tissue paper, it can be made relatively light and environment friendly. Organizer Pooja said that the Mandal’s effort is to convey the message of environmental protection along with faith in the Ganesh Utsav. He says that Ganeshji is worshiped for about 10-11 days and during immersion the idol gets disintegrated. With this in mind, the committee decided to prepare a statue made of eco-friendly tissue paper.
The pandal will resonate with devotion, bhajan and religious programs for 10 days.
Ganesh Utsav will not be limited to just installation and darshan of the idol. Different religious programs will be organized in the pandal during 10 days. Apart from this, musical presentations of religious songs and bhajans will also be organized by inviting various singers. In such a situation, devotees will get the experience of devotional music along with the darshan of Lord Ganesha at one place. The organizers are trying to make the entire festival a center of religious faith, culture and collective participation.
People from old age homes and shelter homes will also be invited to the festival.
The committee has also made preparations to connect Ganeshotsav with social concerns. Elderly people and women living in old age homes and shelter homes will be specially invited during the festival. Programs will also be organized to honor him. Organizers say that the joy of the festival should not be limited to just the pandal. The joy of the festival should also reach those people of the society who are staying away from their families due to some reason. With this thinking, along with religious events, service and respect have also been made a part of the festival this time.
Ganpati is our king, hence his court should also be like that.
Pooja, organizer of Lokmanya Tilak Ganesh Utsav Committee, said that the committee is organizing Ganesh Utsav together for the first time. He said that Ganapati is like a king for him and that is why the theme of the pandal has also been based on the king’s court. According to him, this time a 22 feet statue of eco-friendly tissue paper is being prepared. The committee believes that along with faith, environmental responsibility is also important. For this reason, the statue is being prepared in such a way that the message of environmental protection also reaches the people during Ganeshotsav.
