Organization, workers all fine! Where is BSP seen in the battle of narrative?

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) is in the news these days not because of preparations for the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh but because of infighting. Apart from this, BSP is also in the news for its inaction on land, media and social media. There are discussions in the political circles that the graph of the party is continuously falling, yet BSP is not active in any state. This activism is not particularly prevalent in Uttar Pradesh, where the party is strongest.

BSP, which won 206 seats in 2007, ran the government with full majority till 2012. It lost the 2012 assembly elections and fell from 206 to 80 seats. But, the party's vote share remained intact at 26 percent. After this, in the 2017 assembly elections, BSP's seats fell to 19 and its vote share came to 22.23 percent. In the last elections in 2022, the condition of BSP became even worse and it got only one seat in the elections. In this election the party's vote share fell to 12.88 percent.

The morale of workers is falling.

Now the 2027 assembly elections are around the corner, but BSP Chief Mayawati and her big leaders are neither seen energizing the workers on the ground nor explaining the party's policies to the public. In such a situation, the morale of BSP workers is continuously falling. Amidst all these defeats, BSP is still communicating with the public on its same old lines. Mayawati coming in front of the media and presenting her views as well as door to door campaigning.

BSP is behind in technology

But, as technology changed over the years, parties across the country took the help of that technology and used it to convey their message to the public. From national to state level parties are technically adapting themselves and showing their thinking, promises to the public, past works and influence of their leaders on media and social media. On this social media, the parties are setting their narrative among the public by writing from their own handles and getting others to write.

Party absent on Instagram, Facebook

Amidst all this, BSP's presence on X, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube is negligible. Whereas BJP, Congress and Samajwadi Party have a strong presence on these platforms. These parties have hired their own people for these platforms. Apart from this, people of ideology are making narrative for them by writing and speaking.

How does BSP's narrative reach the public?

The absence of BSP on these platforms is shocking. The words of the party and the party chief are not reaching the new voters. This is causing harm to the party somewhere. Whereas party leader Akash Anand has given a statement regarding this change in the working style of the party. Recently, he had said about the old leaders of the party, 'These people are not allowing the use of modern means of debate and communication, the media are not even understanding the importance of social media.'

Overall, if BSP wants to get new voters and the lost vote bank, then first of all it will have to make its presence felt on these social media platforms. From here the party may get a chance to recreate its narrative.
