Chandigarh:Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today said that on one hand his government is fighting a decisive battle against the evil of gangsters and drugs, on the other hand the opposition party is indulging in 'vulture politics' by resorting to every tragic incident to grab media headlines instead of presenting any vision for Punjab. He said that since January till now, 10 gangsters have been brought back to Punjab from abroad and after the strictness of the government, about 80 percent of the drugs coming from Pakistan have been eliminated.

Announcement to tighten the noose on drug supply from Gujarat-Madhya Pradesh-Rajasthan

The Chief Minister stressed that the government will now tighten the noose on the supply of drugs from Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Taking a direct aim at BJP regarding the route of drugs, he said that if BJP protects Mundra Port of Gujarat then the problem of drugs in Punjab will almost end. He also said that "the one who nurtures gangsters" Congress and Akali Dal have no right to speak on law and order and they have given all three opposition parties their "dirty politics" In the closing ceremony he invited the people to present their vision for Punjab.

Opposition's vulture politics condemned in press conference

Speaking at the opposition's 'vulture politics' during a press conference, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, "When you don't have any issue, you start doing politics on every sad incident. This is not politics of serving people, this is politics of vultures. Punjab deserves better than this cheap politics."

Objection to opposition's attempt to defame Punjab

The Chief Minister said, "Instead of appreciating the Punjab government's strict action against drugs, gangsters and organized crime, the opposition party is deliberately trying to create an atmosphere of fear and defame Punjab for political gains. Punjab is not just a border state but the gateway to the country and the jewel of India. Any attempt to portray the entire state from the perspective of a few isolated incidents is a deliberate attempt to defame Punjab and its people."

Comprehensive outline to break the drug-gangster nexus

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said his government implemented a comprehensive framework to break the nexus of drugs, gangsters and organized crime. The Chief Minister said, "Our fight is not limited to just arrests. We are identifying the network, stopping the supply of consignments, blocking financial channels and bringing the culprits to book. Punjab Police is working day and night and we have not allowed criminals to set the agenda of the state. People involved in drugs and gangster activities are being continuously pursued without any political overtones or influence."

Taking on BJP on the issue of drug trafficking

Taking on BJP on the issue of drug trafficking, he said, "Unsuccessful attempts are being made to smuggle drugs into Punjab from across the 532 km long border. The consignments being sent to Punjab may be in small packets, but the BJP, especially the Union Home Minister, should answer why such consignments are present in tonnes in BJP ruled states."

Recovery of drugs from Mundra Port and targeting of Union Home Minister

The Chief Minister said, "Punjab Police has recovered a huge consignment of such drugs from Mundra Port, which is in the home state of the Union Home Minister. The Union Home Minister is unable to stop drugs in his state and is planning to take out an anti-drug yatra in Punjab. he insisted, "Preventing cross-border smuggling is primarily the responsibility of the Centre, yet the Punjab government has deployed anti-drone systems with its own funds to stop drugs. Lakhs of tonnes of drugs are being seized in Gujarat but no action is taken, whereas Punjab has started the country's biggest campaign against drugs."

3000 kg drug seized at Mundra Port and lack of action

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann further said, "The whole country knows that about 3,000 kg of drugs were seized at Mundra Port in Gujarat, but no meaningful action was taken against those responsible. The Chief Minister said that the Punjab Government has made huge seizures of narcotics and has taken sustained action against thousands of persons involved in drug trafficking. He said, "We have adopted a comprehensive roadmap against drugs, gangsters and organized crime. It is not just about arresting individuals. We are destroying their networks, disrupting their supply chains, attacking their financial resources and going after those who run these criminal syndicates."

Questions on BJP's intentions and opposition's past

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, "These intentions of BJP are only aimed at defaming Punjab and Punjabis, which cannot be tolerated at any cost. The government has taken a tough crackdown against gangsters, including a large number of arrests and deportation proceedings against individuals associated with organized crime and criminal networks. Instead of lecturing the present government, the opposition parties should explain why gangster culture and drug networks were allowed to flourish during their tenure?"

Advice to the opposition to look into their past

The Chief Minister said that those who are preaching on law and order today should first look into their past. He said, "The people of Punjab have not forgotten those dark days when gangsters enjoyed political protection and criminals were allowed to work without fear."

Taking a jibe at Akali Dal, Congress and other opposition parties, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that those who criticized criminal elements in the past have no right to question the action of the government today. He said, "Don't stoop so low by doing politics on every tragedy, Punjab has already suffered a lot due to such politics."

People want solution, not dispute

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, "The provincial government will continue to work without compromise on its roadmap against drugs and organized crime. Punjab has emerged as a leader in the fight against drugs, with Punjab Police making major seizures and disrupting the supply network. He said that the government will not allow Punjab to become a scapegoat for such a problem whose networks extend far beyond the state.

Warning political parties against misleading people through tours, statements and fabricating stories, the Chief Minister said they cannot mislead Punjabis forever. The Chief Minister said, "You cannot mislead Punjabis forever. The wise people of the state know who fought against drugs and gangsters and who gave political shelter to criminals. Similarly, people also know very well who is working for the betterment of the state and who is just looking for cameras."

The opposition party should stop misleading people and start getting positive contributions."

(Anti Gangster Task Force) has taken action against 1.24 lakh gangsters and their associates. We have recovered 1170 weapons, 15 hand grenades, 858.26 kg heroin, 480.26 kg opium, 3056.85 grams gold and Rs 1.28 crore in cash. Punjab Police has deported 18 gangsters from other countries."

The Chief Minister said, "The central government has failed to solve the problem of gangsters at the national level. Punjab's gangster Lawrence Bishnoi has been given shelter in the jail of Gujarat by the BJP government and he is not even being allowed to bring him to Punjab. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, "Gangsterism is a national issue which is a serious threat to the unity, integrity and sovereignty of the country and the Central Government has failed to stop it. The Punjab Government will continue its crackdown against drugs, gangsters and organized crime and will remain focused on the youth, peace and security of the state."
